Historic Golan Settlements
The settling of Israelis in the Golan began in the 1970s, while the area was still under military administration. When the Golan Heights switched to a civilian administration with the formal annexation of the Golan in 1981, many pioneers from all around Israel came to “redeem the land.” The story of these early settlers and their struggles to build communities and industries are inspirational, and show that the Golan had more to offer the future than old battlegrounds and bunkers.
